Day 2 turned out to be a rainy, and very cloudy day. Since our original plans were to do a day of motorcycle riding around the Adirondacks, we had to either change plans, or endure the extreme weather on the bike - we chose to change plans for the day and hope for better weather tomorrow. Our day started with a ride on the Adirondack Railroad (www.adirondackrr.com). For $32, we purchased round trip tickets from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake.
Turns out that this was quite pricey for what you get out of the ride. The scenery was not too spectacular (the tracks ran through a densely wooded area), and the area of Saranac Lake that you were let off in was pretty run down. You have a choice to either stay for 1/2 hour, or 3 hours (and catch the next train). After a brief look around, we ran to catch the train back to Lake Placid! The volunteers were very friendly, however, and helped make the trip memorable.

After the train ride, we spent the rest of the day looking at sights in Lake Placid (such as the ski jumps pictured above), followed by some shopping and dinner.
