The French Quarter section of New Orleans is an interesting walk. The southern end of it is very touristy, and has a lot of more upscale shops, restaurants, etc. As you proceed North, it becomes more and more run down, and less touristy. There are a lot of boarded up buildings and a lot of evidence of damage from the latest hurricane (Gustav).I ate dinner at the River's Edge and had a roast beef Po-Boy with fries. It was very good.
Pictured are some locals I walked by just before the Northern edge. They wanted their picture taken, so I obliged. They probably won't be at the conference tomorrow.
